EN administrators attend the symposium to find ways to tackle water problems

 

Administrators of the Faculty of Engineering attend the international symposium to come up with an ideas for research solving water problems in Isan

On November 8, 2019 – On behalf of Khon Kaen University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chiranut Sa-ngiamsak, Associate Dean for Research and International Affairs; and Asst. Prof. Dr. Kittiwet Kuntiyawichai, Acting Director of Water Resource and Environment Institute (WREI), the Faculty of Engineering, attended the international symposium in the theme of “Water Diplomacy :  Where Local Wisdom Meets International  Excellence” hosted by the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University; and Office of the National Water Resources (ONWR) at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok. The objectives of participation in this symposium were to share knowledge of water management conducted in the form of collaboration between government, educational institute, and international organization; to form network managing entire water system; to apply innovation and technology to water management, to introduce local wisdom as well as the King’s philosophy relating to water management to the symposium with the idea of borderless water management that could be developed further; and to take part in managing water efficiently with the same principles. Attending the symposium could clarify the research question leading to solutions of all water problems occurring in the northeast of Thailand. Khon Kaen University has also conducted research on disasters caused by water – flood, drought, and water quality – under the MOU between KKU and ONWR.
