KKU joins in training private school teachers, responding to Government’s policy

ASEAN Teacher Profession Research and Development Institute trained private school secondary teachers on October 19-20, 2019  

         October 20-21, 2019 – Khon Kaen University by ASEAN Teacher Profession Research and Development Institute, Office of Private Education Promotion Board and Private Education Promotion Committee under the Education Service Area 12 organized a training program for training private school teachers on “Teaching Mathematics for Developing Thinking Skills for the 21st Century”, for secondary school level at ASEAN Teacher Profession Research and Development Institute. 

         Saturday 19, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. – the opening ceremony was held for the training program for training private school teachers on “Teaching Mathematics for Developing Thinking Skills for the 21st Century”, with Dr. Permpoon Pongpunagpet, Kalasin Education Officer presiding over  and Mr. Manote Jullasukhon, Chairperson of Roi-et Private Education Promotion Committee making the reporting speech. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maitree Intaraprasith, KKU Vice President for Education and Acting Director of ASEAN Teacher Profession Research and Development Institute conveyed the welcoming speech to the guests and participants. This activity continued from the private school teacher training on “Teaching Mathematics for Developing Thinking Skills for the 21st Century” for the primary level on October 5-8, 2019. 

         Dr. Permpoon Pongpunagpet, Kalasin Education Officer said, “Private school teacher training aims to acknowledge the teachers in education and instruction for thee 21st Century. It is a very important issue that needs to be expedited so that the teachers can catch up with the ever-changing modern technologies. The changes in economy, social, and technology challenge teachers to design their instruction that develop the learners and meet the changes so that the learners are able to enter the learning society and at the same time lead their schools to become  the learning organization of the 21st Century. The teachers and the students are prepared for developing learning and innovation skills, information, media, and technological skills as well as professional and life skills.” 

          At 10:00 a.m, a special talk on “Kyozai Kenkyu”, “Lesson Study” and “Open Approach” was given by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maitree Intaraprasith, KKU Vice President for Education and Acting Director of ASEAN Teacher Profession Research and Development Institute, Director of Mathematics Education, Khon Kaen University, and President of Mathematics Education Association.   

          There were activities in “Kyozai Kenkyu” at the secondary level where the participants were divided into 3 groups. Sunday October 20, 2019, featured the Open Class activities which were conducted with 20 7th graders from Northeast MahaThai School, Khon Kaen by Ajarn Nattawat Sudjinday, a mathematics lecturer from Faculty of Education. Valai Alongkorn Rajabhat University under the Royal Patronage.

          The activities were participated by over 100 KKU lecturers and students from Faculty of Education, Private Education committee members, Director of Common Education Group of Office of Private Education Promotion Committee, teachers of private schools in Khon Kaen, Roi-et, Maha Sarakham and Kalasin.
