The number of KKU Digital Transformation contestants is beyond all expectations

KKU organizes Digital Transformation Camp which allows all the brave contestants to grow seeds of the dream, develop creativity for digital work of their organizations, and show groundbreaking projects to get cash prize 

       On October 15, 2019, Asst. Prof. Dr. Pipat Reungsang, Assistant to the President for Digital University Development and Chairperson of the Committee of KKU Digital Transformation Academy and Contest, together with the committee including Mr.Tanya Pakdee, Director of General Affairs Division; Mr. Pattarasak Thammasirirak, Director of Strategy Division Khon Kaen University; Mr. Chumporn Para from Communication Affairs Division; Miss Nitiya Chumapai from KKU Library; Miss Arisa Sonsupee from General Affairs Division; and Miss Jutarat Kamwan from General Affairs Division, joined the meeting to set the criteria for KKU Digital Transformation Academy and Contest. Supporting staff’s project submitting period was closed on October 10, 2019. Totally, there were over 90 projects submitted by individuals and over 80 teams. 

       Asst. Prof. Dr. Pipat Reungsang said, “Digital University Development, General Affairs Division, and Office of KKU President have proceeded KKU Digital Transformation Academy and Contest complying with KKU administrative and development policies regarding people from 2019-2023: Communities or the university stakeholders shall be able to use and develop digital technology based on one’s duties. Lecturers and staff shall have Digital Literacy and Skills. Khon Kaen University therefore keeps developing to become a digital university by applying information technology to administration and services. From these reasons, KKU enables them to gain knowledge and experience from their work and develop it into project presentation. The contest for supporting staff was classified in 3 groups which were Disruption, Innovation, and Iteration. All interesting 94 projects were submitted by 88 teams and 6 individual contestants.”

       Mr.Tanya Pakdee revealed, “Fast changes in technology led to disruptive technology, so different organizations need to adjust accordingly. The work process and staff’s potential need to be improved to meet with the competiveness in the digital age. KKU Digital Transformation Academy and Contest is one of different ways that pushes staff’s work based on each person’s duties toward digital university concept. At this meeting, the committee sets the criteria for evaluation and selects the projects that can pass to the next round.”

       Miss Nitiya Chumapai said, “The qualifying round is on October 24, 2019; and the final round is on January 8, 2020. There’re 3 categories for this contest. The first category is Disruption. A 15,000 baht cash prize will go to the winner; 10,000 baht to the first runner-up; 7,500 baht to the second runner-up; and 4,000 baht to each of 4 Honorable Mention Award winners. The second category is Innovation. A 10,000 baht cash prize will go to the winner; 7,500 baht to the first runner-up; 5,000 baht to the second runner-up; and 3,000 baht to each of 3 Honorable Mention Award winners. The third category is Iteration. A 7,500 baht cash prize will go to the winner; 5,000 baht to the first runner-up; 3,000 baht to the second runner-up; and 1,000 baht to each of 3 Honorable Mention Award winners. There is also a Popular Vote Award granting 5,500 baht cash prize to the winner.”

       KKU Digital Transformation Academy and Contest which is organized this time is another important step of supporting staff moving toward digital university. They can utilize their knowledge and different skills to develop the university into a modern organization. They can also share their knowledge as well as skills with the help of digital tools. Although the contestants joined KKU Digital Transformation Academy and Contest Camp because of the attractive prizes, this contest can generate ideas that transform KKU into true digital university.
