Khon Kaen University’s College of Computing recently became the epicenter of groundbreaking discussions as it hosted the 28th International Computer Science and Engineering Conference (ICSEC 2024). Held from November 6-8, 2024, this prestigious event brought together leading minds from around the globe to explore the theme “AI & Sustainable Computing.”
The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Narongchai Akrasanee, Chairman of the University Council, who emphasized the critical role of sustainable technology development. Prof. Dr. Pewpan Maleewong, Vice President for Research, warmly welcomed participants, highlighting the conference’s alignment with the university’s 60th-anniversary celebrations and its commitment to impactful research and international collaboration.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sirapat Chlewchanwattan, Dean of the College of Computing, underscored the conference’s significance as a platform for exchanging cutting-edge knowledge and innovations. This year, ICSEC attracted submissions from researchers across 15 countries, with 66 high-quality papers selected from 113 entries. These papers spanned vital topics such as Applied AI, Big Data, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, and High-Performance Computing, showcasing the global advancements in computer science research.
The conference featured an impressive lineup of keynote speakers, including Professor Dr. Thomas Bäck from LIACS, Leiden University, who explored the intriguing topic of “On the Automated Generation of Optimization Heuristics: A Dream or Reality?” Professor Dr. Dusit Niyato from Nanyang Technological University delved into “Large Language Models (LLMs) with Retrieval-Augmented Generation for Next Generation Networking,” while Professor Dr. Gitta Kutyniok from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich offered insights into “Sustainable AI Computing: A Mathematical Perspective.”
In addition to the keynote sessions, the conference offered a variety of engaging tutorials and workshops on emerging topics such as Quantum Computing, Generative AI, and Digital Security, providing participants with hands-on learning experiences.
ICSEC 2024 not only celebrated Khon Kaen University’s legacy of innovation and academic excellence but also set the stage for future collaborations and advancements in the field of computer science, reinforcing its position as a leader in fostering sustainable technological development.
