Wednesday April 10, 2024 – Dr. Narongchai Akrasanee, Chairman of Khon Kaen University, presided over the opening ceremony of KKU Academy at the 9th Floor, Information Center Building (the KKU Library), Khon Kaen University, where a lot of KKU administrators, lecturers, and administrators from the private sector joined.
Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University explained about the initial concept for establishing KKU Academy. This happened from the intention to develop the University as a Virtual University, to deploy online instruction that accommodates the transformation of teaching paradigm to learning paradigm and to extend the chance in access of learning from all over the world so that the bodies of knowledge from the lecturers and the local wisdom can be transferred to benefit the public in a broad circle. At the same time, there is the connection of opportunities for learning with leading experts in different fields both nationally and internationally.
Assoc. Prof. Pattarawut Vadhanasap, M.D., Acting Director of KKU Academy revealed that KKU Academy is prepared to produce the online programs and learning media. The programs with collaboration between lecturers of Khon Kaen University and leading experts both inside and outside the country are emphasized. This is in order to create learning experiences that are practicable. There will be both the program that incorporates excellence knowledge of Khon Kaen University or art and culture, or local wisdom, to transfer to learners everywhere. There will be the transfer of knowledge and experiences of leading world experts to learners in the locality, according to the Academy’s philosophy that says: “Connecting the World for Mastery Learning”. At the beginning, the Academy will emphasize Thai learners before extending and developing programs that meet the needs of foreign students.
At the opening ceremony, there were activities such as KKU Academy Talk on Learning Transformation, production of programs of KKU Academy, and digital technology. Joining the forum were Assoc. Prof. Pattarawut Vadhanasap, M.D., Acting Director of KKU; Assoc. Prof. Rossawan Areemit, M.D., Deputy Director for Education of KKU Academy; and Dr. Kitt Tianmanopajai, Deputy Director for Digital of KKU Academy.
In addition, there were demonstration of media production and use of studio tools. Participants were able to watch the behind scene of program production and experienced the process of media making for online instruction of other subjects by the working team of KKU Academy.
