Saturday March 16, 2024 – Khon Kaen University by the Division of Student Development and Alumni Relation held the 2023 Honorary Awarding Ceremony to alumni of Khon Kaen University at the Auditorium, Khon Kaen University Science Park. The ceremony began at 13:00 p.m., with Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University presiding over, while vice presidents, deans, administrators, distinguished guests, and the honorary awarded alumni attended.
The ceremony featured showing of video of the accounts and work outcomes of the notable alumni of the year 2023, followed by the congratulatory speech from the President and the honorary award presentation, after which all of the 21 awarded alumni expressed their feelings.
Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University mentioned in his congratulatory speech that in 2024, Khon Kaen University reaches its 60the year from the foundation, which is the 60 years of pride. There have been over 200,000 graduates completing their studies from Khon Kaen University, who have gone out to work with perseverance that results in creativity and innovations in all professions. There are alumni who return to assist as advisors, giving recommendations and cooperating in the development of the University in various dimensions, including research, academic service, nurturing of art and culture. As a result, the growth and progress of Khon Kaen University never stop. Graduates have been launched every year with quality and are the personnel required by the workplaces both governmental and nongovernmental. The presentation of this valuable award is meant for praising and honoring the alumni whose works have been notable to the society and for marking the support for and pride of all Khon Kaen University people.
Prof. Ekkapan Sawatsitung, Ph.D., a highly competent researcher and a senior research scholar of the Department of Physics, Faculty of Sciences, Khon Kaen University, one of the awardee, said that he came to study in Khon Kaen University in 1975 and has been here until today. He has seen tremendous changes and developments of Khon Kaen University. All of his friends who return said every time there are changes. He then thanked Khon Kaen University, the Faculty and the Department he was studying in, and thanked for the award that will encourages him to work his best for what he is responsible for. He hopes all alumni will carry out their duties successfully for Khon Kaen University, themselves and the families.
Miss Sasamon Mahasirikul, President of Khon Kaen MICE and Tourism Association, who is the awardee of the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy thanked Khon Kaen University for the honorary award. She said she was honored to be here and would like to say that all of us are like a tree. Besides being a good seed, the soil and water must help us to grow, bear the shade, and guard the environment. Soil is a good family, while water is the academic institution that lets us grow with values. Khon Kaen University has given us a lot of education and experiences. She vowed, as the 24th class, to be a good seed and help the society for the reputation of Khon Kaen University in so far as social dedication is meant for.
Assoc. Prof. Orathai Piaura, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University, another honorary awardee, expressed her feeling of honor to receive this award. She then thanked all of the professors who taught her until she was able to successfully apply the knowledge and experiences in her life and work.
Assoc. Prof. Teekayu Plangkoon Jorns, Ph.D., an awardee from the Department of Occlusion and Orofacial Pain, Faculty of Dentistry, said that he is the 12th class of the Faculty and the 28th class of KKU. He has worked in Khon Kaen University since he graduated until today. He then thanked for the honorary award. If there was no Khon Kaen University, he would not exist. Khon Kaen University is the best place to drive the students forward for the progress, with the best environment for the students. There is no faculty of dentistry anywhere in Thailand that offers integrated treatment and efficiently joins with the neighboring medical center like Faculty of Dentistry of Khon Kaen University. He thanked all of the professors who taught him and promised that this award will make himself a good dentist who treats his patients well in the long run.
Mr. Suriyan Khojornrote, Vice General Manager and Chairman of the Operating Staff of Sikarin Co. Ltd. (Public Company), an awardee from the Faculty of Engineering said that he is the 35th class and graduated in industrial engineering. Every time he returns to Khon Kaen, it is like returning home. He thanked all of the professors who taught him and the Mo Din Daen engineering folks who have always been like brothers and sisters and friends at the same time. This makes the alumni of KKU stand at the front of the country. He himself has grown in the private sector and as an executive and is always proud to be a former student of KKU. He thanked this family for the support and thanked for the award today, which would be the moral support for him to use the competency and knowledge for making the society grow even more.
Miss Piyanuch Yindeesuk, a Nakhon Ratchasima representative and an awardee from the International College said that she is the first class of IC and majored in Global Business. Today she was very glad and proud to receive this honorary award. The award will make her do the best she can in her duty. Even though she came from another province, she loves and is attached to Khon Kaen University. She then thanked the professors who made her able to develop herself, the society and the country.
The 2023 honorary award presentation for alumni of faculties and colleges was organized by the Division of Student Development and Alumni Relation, Khon Kaen University, to honor the alumni who have contributed to Khon Kaen University and the country. The award also promotes good relationships among the alumni and connects the network of alumni of Khon Kaen University. Each faculty and college was asked to select and nominate the alumni who deserve the award from the reputation they have brought to Khon Kaen University and the country.
