Friday January 22, 2021 at 15:00 p.m. – Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University presided over the High-Speed Train Project meeting. This project is under collaboration with overseas organizations. Participating in the meeting included Assoc. Prof. Nawarat Wara-Aswapati Charoen, Ph.D., Vice President for International Affairs; Assoc. Prof. Maitree Inprasitha, Ph.D., Vice President for Education and Academic Services; Asst. Prof. Acharawan Topark-ngarm, Ph.D., Assistant to the President for International Affairs; Asst. Prof. Dr. Kiat Saengarun, Dean of Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rachapon Santiwarakorn, Dean of Faculty of Engineering; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Natthapong Areemitr, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Faculty of Engineering; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Surasit Piyasin, Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nantiwat Pondee, representative of Assoc. Prof. Akom Kaewrawang, Head of Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering; Dr. Jongkrit Jongudomkarn, representative of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pichet Chiawtanakul, Head of Department of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering; Asst. Prof. Dr. Sukangkana Talaengkan, Head of Department of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chalermchai Pawatana, Head of Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering; Mrs. Wilawan Angsunantawiwat, Acting Director of Division of Foreign Affairs; Miss Netdao Jamroendararasami, Senior Professional International Relation Officer; and Miss Saowanee Namthajan, an International Relation Officer. The meeting was held at Sirikunakorn Room 5, Sirikunakorn Building, 6th Floor.
Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., explained about the background of the High-Speed Train Project and discussed the possibility to open a new program that may collaborate with leading universities in the People’s Republic of China. This program deals with high speed trains and will prepare graduates for one of the key job markets in the future. There is at present the High-speed Rail Project of Thailand, which is a mega-project to construct a high-speed train system that aims to develop the economy, connect commercial markets among the countries in the Me Kong Region, as Thailand is the center of Indochina. Participants at the meeting discussed the goals, objectives, approaches of implementation for developing an international High-Speed Train program. Steps will be taken in the planning staring from now.
