Action!!! KKU holds a movie camp to inspire new generation of directors in “Luang Phrabang’s embrace”

December 20-24, 2019 – Khon Kaen University, by the Art, Culture and Creative Economy Section, Cultural Center, Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Hall of Isan Movies, Thai Movie Director Association, Educational Institution Network, Institute of Fine Arts, Lao PDR, Movie Department of Lao PDR held a workshop on movie production, the “5th Short Movie Production – Creating Art and Culture of the Two Me Kong Banks”, under the theme “Luang Phrabang’s Embrace” in Luang Phraband, Lao PDR. 

The opening ceremony of the “5th Short Movie Production – Creating Art and Culture of the Two Me Kong Banks”, under the theme “Luang Phrabang’s Embrace” was presided over by Mr. Kritsayapong Siri, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Culture and Assoc. Prof. Visai Jansawang, President of Suphanuvong University. Asst. Prof. Burin Plengdeesakul, Dean of Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts conveyed a reporting speech. Mr. Tanit Jitnukul, President of Thai Director Association and a number of guests, representatives of directors from Thai Director Association, lecturers and students joined in the ceremony. This project was held in order to build experiences in creating movies and building directors. The workshop was led by Pratchaya Pinkaeww, Tanit Jitnukul, Bandit Thongdee and directors from Thai Director Association. There was a life broadcast relating work experience of leading actors and actresses of the two sides of Me Kong including, Grandma Daeng boonsri Yindee Prappadon Suwannabang, Kanuengpim Tanapichakorn, Chupong Changprung, Diaw Chupong, Somyos Matures, Phounsap PHONNYOTHA, Vipha YAGANEGI, Bousla Luangkhot, Phonethamaly CHITPANYA, and a lot more. 

Asst. Prof. Burin Plengdeesakul, Dean of Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, as the representative of the project organizers said that the “5th Short Movie Production – Creating Art and Culture of the Two Me Kong Banks”, under the theme “Luang Phrabang’s Embrace” was under the collaboration of many sectors that are interested in and saw the importance of the development of Thai movies. The project began from locality towards conservation and promotion of culture and local wisdom especially in the Me Kong Sub-region. The event also promotes the learning of film production process among students and lecturers in universities where movie production courses are offered. More importantly, chances are provided to promote participation of educational institutions and organizations in Thailand, Lao PDR, and the Me Kong Sub-region. Sixteen institutions in the sub-region attended the workshop this year. The dean finally extended his gratitude to the private sector supporters, Jew Huat Company that sells the Golden Label Three Chefs Products, 360 Entertainment Company, and other organizations that see the importance of this event and have taken part in upgrading the activities.
