PSU and KKU utilizes innovation created by Thais for Thais to save the world

Khon Kean University brought the particulate matter detectors under the project of Smart City to use in the university. The particulate matter detector was created by Asst. Prof. Dr. Wannarat Santiamorntat, Director of Digital Research and Innovation Institute, Prince of Songkla University. She kindly lent the PM 2.5 air quality index detector (AQI) which she had developed to Khon Kaen University to reduce the cost from imported products. The AQI detectors were installed on Smart Pole at 2 spots – in front of KKU Library and near Sithan Pond – to study the effects of air pollution. The study is conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Perapong Tekasakul from Mechanical Engineering Program, the Faculty of Engineering, Prince of Songkla University. The real-time AQI can be checked from https://smartcity.kku.ac.th/. This activity shows the close ties between the 2 universities in the network for exchanging knowledge regarding research and innovation development to step closer to Smart University transformation supported by Smart City Project.
