November 23, 2019 at Sribun Kongjan Room – COLA held an opening ceremony for the Smart Classroom, in which a number of instructional equipment and tools that enable smart learning in the Smart Classroom were given to the college by a team of donators led by Dr. Thongplew Kongjan, Director of the Royal Irrigation Department who also presided over the ceremony. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supavatanakorn Wongthanawasu, Dean of COLA, made a reporting address covering the background of the Smart Classroom project and words of thanks to the givers. Asst. Prof. Dr. Denpong Soodphakdee, Vice President for Digital University Development made a speech to thank the donating team. After the opening ceremony, there was demonstration of instruction in the Smart Classroom. Attendants then visited this creative learning resource, a new cool trend for KKU.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supavatanakorn Wongthanawasu, Dean of COLA expressed her gratitude and explained that the donation is very useful for the students. The smart classroom will promote creativity and effective learning that will lead to future benefits among the students. Dr. Thongplew Kongjan holds similar vision and perspective as COLA in developing Smart Citizens through this Smart Classroom that in part will create new ideas from interactions with local people.
Dr. Thongplew Kongjan added, “…I’m happy to see that the smart classroom is built. I’d like our country, our province and my hometown to progress with the national strategic vision of the 4.0 era. Different official organizations and Department of Irrigation have much developed in smart systems such as the smart water corporation center. We would be happy if lecturers made a study trip there. The center manages water for the whole country and relies on a smart system. I’m a Khon Kaen person. Although I did not graduate from Khon Kaen University, many of my children and relatives studied here. I’m ready to help in any aspects, religion, education, public health that will improve our country. But I cannot do this by myself, I have to depend on the network to mobilize funds for a lot of improvements which could be in Khon Kaen or other provinces. We cannot wait for the budget, but we are able to support, have faith, know how to give, especially accurately and right to the point. For example, one unit of donation in education can be distributed to many people in many years. When we prepare a citizen, we never know if this person will become a prime minister in the future. As for COLA, I have heard about the college for a long time. Many officers in my department also graduated from COLA. More importantly, my father and mother received medical care at Srinagarind Hospital and were taken care of by many professors, especially Ajarn Maem, until they passed away. I therefore would like to have a place of memory for them and that is the background of the “Smart Classroom Sribum Kongjan”. If there is any incompletion of what we do today, we will help to make it complete in the future…”
Asst. Prof. Dr. Denpong Soodphakdee said in his speech, “On behalf of Khon Kaen University administrators, I am grateful to the Director and his friends who donate this room to our students and staff. This room will be an important room for educational development. The students will learn under the environment they will encounter. The usefulness of the room will always remind us of the givers. I have talked to the dean that we should do something more with the room where just a teacher coming to teach. This room is also good for producing teaching media and knowledge. It will be a major tool for use to incubate important local administrators for the country. We’d like to thank you for saying that COLA is a leading institute in the field. We hope that you will continue to support us in other dimensions in Khon Kaen University. KKU attempts to build classrooms like this one in different environment in order to prepare good citizens for the country. The smart classroom is a good start that also matches the working approaches of Khon Kaen University people.”
