Institute for Research and Development of Teaching Profession for ASEAN joins with UN in their visit to Meechai Patana School, in Burirum’s Lumplaimat District, aiming to achieve  Sustainable Development

To articulate the importance of the United Nation Week (21-27 October), a team of United Nation (UN) representatives visited Meechai Patana School, in Burirum’s Lumplaimat District, for the recognition of the school’s decades of exercising the SDGs activities.

KKU has worked with Chaipatana School in Burirum to achieve the sustainable development goal following the UN’s strategy. This private school is under supervision of Dr. Meechai Weerawaitaya. To honor the UN representatives to the school, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maitree Inprasit, a vice president for education and acting director of the Institute for Research and Development of Teaching Profession for ASEAN was invited to present at the school.  Following the opening ceremony, there was student music performances and the MOU signing between the school and UN. The group also visited Ban Guangnoi Village, Lumplaimat District to witness their success on sustainable development goals (SDGs).

KKU has cooperated with Meechai Patana School through many academic exchanges including; sending a group of fifth year student teachers to do a teaching training in the school for the whole 2019 educational year, conducting intensive camp for higher order thinking development for the Meechai Paatana students under support from Institute for Research and Development of Teaching Profession for ASEAN. Moreover, Faculty of Education also sends its Ph.D students to join the school administration as an acting school director. The program, started from May, 2019, takes four months for each of the Ph.D students to cast in the school administrating role for four months.

Dr. Meechai Weerawaitaya discussed with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maitree Inprasit seeking for future corporation with KKU in bringing about a curriculum for preparing the teachers into the future. The school founder suggested that KKU sign a treaty sustainable development goals with UN.
