KKU Smart Learning succeeds in mentoring a network school towards a national award

KKU Smart Learning carried out the local and educational development through the U-school mentoring project, with a school under SAO LAO Model winning the 2019 Best Award 

         Sunday 29 September, 2019 – The secondary school student development project through innovation or the KKU Smart Learning, led by administrator of Office of Secondary School Service 25 and administrators of network schools, presented the work in the conference on local and educational development: “Building Teachers, Media, and Communities to build human resources for the 21st Century. Mrs. Suwannee Khamman, Secretary of Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation presided over the opening ceremony. Over 30 institutes attended the event to present their work which was supported by the U-School Mentoring project. The event took place at Centra Hotel by Centara, Official and Convention Center, Jangwatana. 

         The conference was aimed at opening up a chance for learning and sharing, extending educational innovations for further application and building educational quality for the country in the future. Moreover, it was aimed at building a chance for remote students to have access to educational innovation. Over 300 teachers, pupils and students attended.    

         Asst. Prof. Anucha Somabut, President of the lower Northeast university network and Director of Khon Kaen University Center for Instructional Innovation revealed that KKU Smart Learning has as its objectives to build awareness of the roles and duties of teachers and the upgrading of educational quality and qualities of the future citizen. It also aims at building understanding of the concept and methods of instruction in the new century, enabling the use of technology to promote learning of each subject among the teachers who join the project. The teachers are able to exchange opinions on the content analysis of each subject so that they can design instructional activities effectively. The teachers understand how to use innovations of KKU Smart Learning for efficient teaching. The project has attained the success when a school under the project, Nongsaolaowittayakan School received the best award from the SAO LAO Model, an outcome of the KKU Smart Learning, proving that the school can be a model for the 21st Century schools. 

         The event provided a stage for representatives of universities under the network from 9 regions to present their educational innovations, by dividing into 3 groups, namely, 1) digital media, 2) methodological media, and 3) material media. Asst. Prof. Dr. Chutinan Prasitpuripreecha, Acting President of Ubon Ratchathani University, as the President of the lower Northeast network gave an overview of the work on media production for life-long learning of the 9 regions. Asst. Prof. Anucha Somabut, President of the lower Northeast university network and Director of Khon Kaen University Center for Instructional Innovation conveyed the welcoming speech to participants and gave a talk on the trend of instructional media innovations of the 21st Century.

         The KKU Smart Learning for the 7th, 8th, and 9th graders was presented in details and the representatives from Nongsaolaowittayakan School, Chumphae District, Khon Kaen, then presented the KKU Smart Camp for Smart Kids and Teachers. The representatives including Mrs. Benjamas Kaewwisit, Principal of the school and teachers of three subjects presented the SAO LAO Model and the outcomes of KKU Smart Learning until the school then won the Best Award of 2019, bringing pride to Khon Kaen University that has taken part in propelling the educational innovations which are useful for the education of Thailand in the future. 

         Mrs. Suwannee Khamman, Secretary of Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation gave a special talk on “Transformative Learning to Enhancing process for Global Citizen” and Professor Emeritus Dr. Jaras Suvarnwela gave a lecture on “Educational Reform: Catching up with the World 4.0” and the new era educational reform issues under the Educational Reform Law. The event was concluded with participants looking at the exhibition.
