Faculty of Veterinary Medicine gives rabies vaccination to animals around Ban Non Muang

Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Khon Kaen University gave rabies vaccination to Ban Non Muang Community on the World Rabies Day of 2019

September 28, 2019 marks another World Rabies Day, and thus Faculty of Veterinary Medicine led by Dr. Awirut Wichaiwong DVM – a veterinarian of the Animal Hospital went out to Ban Non Muang community with a group of 7 students of the Rabies Prevention Club, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Union. The team carried out a campaign to prevent and control rabies by giving vaccination to pets and animals at Ban Non Muang, Sila Sub-district, Muang District, Khon Kaen. Ban Non Muang is a community adjacent to KKU campus and one of the university neighbors. There were 64 dogs and 23 cats brought by the villagers, totaling 87 animals to receive vaccination. This kind of event was held for the first time on September 8, 2007 by the Global Alliance for Rabies Control before the date changed to September 28 of every year. The day also marked the death of Louis Pasteur, a French chemist and biologist, who first invented the vaccine to prevent rabies for the world animal population.
