On September 20, 2019 at Queen Sirikit Heart Center Building, pharmacists from hospitals in different provinces – Khon Kaen, Roi Et, Mahasarakham, and Kalasin – participate in workshop on combating Combat Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) with Drug Utilization Evaluation (DUE) and Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP). At the opening ceremony, Asst. Prof. Suparit Silarat (MD), Deputy Director of Queen Sirikit Heart Center of the Northeast, presided over.
In fact, antimicrobial drugs have been used improperly, and that became the cause of antimicrobial resistance which is a serious problem. Therefore, many countries in the world including Thailand have tried to solve problem. The objectives of this workshop were to reduce the opportunity that antimicrobial resistance would occur and control the patients’ spending on health care so that all concerning parties would proceed accordingly.
Additionally, there was a forum that participant could share ideas for controlling the spread of AMR in hospitals and develop them into proper approaches for health professionals. These approaches can be used to monitor, prevent, and control the spread of AMR in hospitals effectively in the future.
