Over 200 people from upper Isan region network attend KKU’s grand seminar

KKU organizes the 2019 seminar on knowledge exchange project developing education quality and local area with the help of the university as a mentor who will visit sample schools

On August 27, 2019, Learning and Teaching Innovation Center, Khon Kaen University organized the 2019 seminar on knowledge exchange project developing education quality and local area (U-School Mentoring ) at AVANI Hotel, Khon Kaen. This seminar is a good opportunity to exchange knowledge which later can be applied to better quality of education in Thailand and leads to greater opportunity for students in rural areas. In this seminar, universities, teachers, lecturers, and students participated totally over 200 people.

It was an honor to have Asst. Prof. Dr. Denpong Soodphakdee, Vice President for Digital University Development, presiding over and as a keynote speaker giving a talk on roles of mentoring university, teachers, and students in collaboration aiming for learning in the 21th century. Then the souvenirs with Isan uniqueness were presented to the delegate from Office of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, and 9 inspectors from 9-region network. After that Asst. Prof. Dr. Anucha Somabut reported the performing results with video presentation. Other 14 institutes from upper Isan region network presented their work, and teachers including students from 3 schools, 3 projects in the network attended the talk on learning in the 21th century.

In the afternoon, it was a session for exhibition booths of different schools presenting their work and exchange knowledge. There was also competition giving different awards – 3 for smartest innovation, 3 for best exhibition, and 1 for popular vote. After the competition, it was workshop activity separated into 3 groups: 1) teachers’ potential development for the 21 century by Asst. Prof. Dr. Anucha Somabut and Mr. Samart Singma introducing application that promoted fun learning; 2) Online information analysis with the help of digital quotient (DQ) by KKU Smart Camp for Smart Citizen; and 3) an activity for mentoring university discussing on reflection and lesson learned with committee and delegated from 9-region network hosted by Asst. Prof. Saksuriya Thraiyarach. At the end of the session, there was competition result announcement.

On August 28, 2019, the mentoring university visited schools such as Khonkaen Wittayayon 3 School and Nongtoom Nongngooluam School to follow up the performance results and activities that developed learning potential in digital age for teachers and students.

Moreover, the results from the work of mentoring university network that aimed to develop teachers, students, and communities were presented, and there was presentation of work created by the collaboration between the university and schools. These activities motivated students to learn enthusiastically and efficiently. Village philosophers also passed down local wisdom to students so that they could create pieces of work that would be profitable.
