On March 24, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) hosted a signing ceremony to award capital market research grants to emerging researchers. This initiative, a collaboration between MHESI Office of the Permanent Secretary and the Capital Market Development Fund (CMDF), granted funding to 10 researchers from top universities across Thailand. Among the distinguished recipients was Asst. Prof. Dr. Umawadee Detthamrong from the College of Local Administration, Khon Kaen University (COLA KKU).


Prof. Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary of MHESI, emphasized that these grants align with the government’s vision of positioning Thailand as a leading regional capital market hub. The two-year research projects aim to generate innovative knowledge and solutions to strengthen the country’s capital market systematically and sustainably. He expressed optimism that the research outcomes would directly influence policies to enhance Thailand’s financial ecosystem.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Umawadee Detthamrong, who also serves as Assistant Dean for Academic Services, Research, and Marketing at COLA KKU, shared details about her groundbreaking research. Her project focuses on developing advanced stock price forecasting tools that integrate ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) factors. This initiative not only supports sustainable investment but also aligns with government policies promoting economic growth through transparency and environmental responsibility. Dr. Umawadee highlighted the importance of encouraging businesses and investors to prioritize social and environmental considerations in their decision-making processes.
Mr. Chakchai Boonyawat, CMDF Fund Manager, praised this year’s grant recipients for their ability to combine cutting-edge technology with capital market analysis. He noted that their work would lay the foundation for stable and sustainable growth in Thailand’s financial sector.
