KHON KAEN UNIVERSITY and SILA MUNICIPALITY have launched an ambitious educational partnership that promises to revolutionize local schooling through cutting-edge teaching innovations and substantial infrastructure investment.
At the “OPEN CLASS and BEST PRACTICE Presentation” event on March 20, it was presided over by Mr. Pairat Taweewarn, Mayor of Sila Municipality, alongside Assoc. Prof. Dr. Issara Kanjug, Dean of the Faculty of Education, and Mr. Sakchai Bunnorm, Director of Kota Municipality School, who highlighted the significance of the event.
Mayor Pairat Taweewarn announced plans for the new Sila Municipality Demonstration School, backed by a 30-million-baht investment in a state-of-the-art innovation building. “This marks a pivotal moment in elevating local education to unprecedented standards,” he declared.
“We’re witnessing a complete transformation in how we approach education,” Mayor Pairat told our reporter. “For too long, rural schools have been left behind. This partnership changes everything—our children deserve world-class education regardless of where they live.”
The collaboration brings KKU’s educational expertise directly into local classrooms, with the university’s Faculty of Education and Demonstration School providing mentorship in modern curricula and teaching methodologies. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Issara Kanjug, Dean of the Faculty of Education, highlighted the “Partnership School” model as a transformative approach that combines visionary local leadership with academic excellence.
“What makes this initiative unique is that we’re not imposing solutions from outside,” Dean Issara explained in an exclusive interview. “We’re building on local strengths and addressing specific community needs. The enthusiasm from teachers, students, and parents has been extraordinary—they’re not just recipients but active co-creators of this educational revolution.”
Mr. Sakchai Bunnorm, Director of Kota Municipality School, added, “The student exhibition project is a vital platform that allows teachers and students to showcase their potential and creativity through academic works across all subject areas. This exhibition aims to encourage students to develop presentation skills, express themselves confidently, and take pride in their achievements. It also serves as a progress report on educational advancements and a means to share accomplishments with the community and relevant organizations. The event features learning innovations across seven subject areas, presented by students from Kindergarten 2 to Grade 6. These works are the result of collaboration between Kota Municipality School and the Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University. Additionally, various organizations, including the Faculty of Education, the College of Local Administration, Sila Municipality’s Early Childhood Development Center, and Sila Municipality’s Senior Citizen School, contributed to the exhibition. This reflects the strong integration of efforts to advance education in Sila Municipality.”
Students from kindergarten through sixth grade showcased impressive projects across seven subject areas, demonstrating the immediate impact of this educational revolution. The initiative extends beyond academics, positioning Sila as an emerging educational hub in Khon Kaen Province while developing young minds who will drive Thailand’s future development.
This partnership exemplifies KKU’s commitment to meaningful community engagement, creating sustainable networks that apply university research directly to local development challenges—a model that could transform rural education across Thailand.
