Khon Kaen University proudly honored 1,502 students for their exceptional contributions to extracurricular activities during the academic year 2024. The grand certificate presentation ceremony took place on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the Prachak Puapermpoolsiri Conference Room, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The event was divided into two sessions: the morning session, presided over by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, President of KKU, and the afternoon session, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Kurusart Konharn, Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations, alongside Asst. Prof. Dr. Piyanat Sudee, Assistant to the President for Student Development and Alumni Relations. The ceremony was attended by deans, university executives, staff, honored guests, and over 1,502 students.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul highlighted the importance of students as the university’s most valuable resource. He emphasized KKU’s commitment to fostering holistic student development, both academically and through extracurricular activities, to prepare them with essential 21st-century skills and global citizenship. He stated, “Our goal is to nurture well-rounded graduates who excel physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually, guided by the principles of ‘Knowledge, Morality, and Wisdom,’ which are the core values of KKU.”
The event celebrated the creativity, dedication, and societal contributions of students, which not only benefit the students themselves but also bring pride to the university and its supporters. The President expressed his gratitude to all departments involved in student development, including the student development offices of all faculties, the Division of Student Development and Alumni Relations, the Student Dormitory Services Division, the Sports Division, student organizations, and the students themselves for their efforts in enhancing KKU’s reputation.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Kurusart Konharn explained that the certificate presentation aimed to inspire students to recognize the value of extracurricular activities, which provide invaluable experiences for their future careers and lives. He remarked, “The success of this event is the result of collaboration from all sectors, including student development offices, student organizations, the Student Council, student clubs, dormitory committees, faculties, colleges, the Sports Division, and the Division of Student Development and Alumni Relations. Recognizing and honoring these students not only instills pride but also promotes the value of working for the greater good, developing leadership skills, and setting a positive example for the university community. These are the foundations of becoming quality graduates in the future.”

Mr. Prompop Worha, President of the Student Organization for the academic year 2024, shared his heartfelt reflections after receiving an award. He described his role as the pinnacle of his student life, despite the challenges, mistakes, exhaustion, and tears he faced over the past year. His guiding principle was, “Effort never betrays those who are determined.” He credited his perseverance to the unwavering support of his team, advisors, fellow students, and family, who celebrated every success with him.
“Receiving this award and certificate today proves that all the dedication was not in vain. It will remain a cherished memory forever. Although I am now a former Student Organization President, I hope to be remembered fondly and encourage everyone to continue participating in activities for the greater good,” he said.
The ceremony aimed to honor and motivate students who dedicated themselves to serving the community and creating activities that benefit the university, society, and the nation. This aligns with KKU’s mission to develop students into desirable graduates with the university’s unique identity.
In addition to presenting certificates to outstanding students in extracurricular activities, the event also included the prestigious “Sri Kalapruk” Excellence Awards, “Kalapruk” Excellence Awards in various categories, and awards for outstanding blood donation activities. The Faculty of Science received the award for the highest total number of blood donors, while the Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences was recognized for the highest blood donation rate (units per student).
The event was divided into two sessions. The morning session featured the presentation of certificates to students from the Student Organization, the Student Council, various clubs, and dormitory committees. Awards included:
- Outstanding Blood Donation Activity Awards for the academic year 2024
- Honorary awards for outstanding students
- Awards for the President of the Student Organization and the President of the Student Council
- Certificates for 582 students who excelled in extracurricular activities
The afternoon session focused on presenting certificates to 920 students from 22 faculties and colleges, bringing the total number of honored students to 1,502.
To qualify for the certificates, students had to meet the criteria outlined in KKU Announcement No. 2791/2024:
- Be an undergraduate student at KKU.
- Have no record of disciplinary penalties or demerits.
- Serve as a role model and bring recognition to their faculty or the university.
- Support activities organized by their faculty or the university.
- Demonstrate achievements, creativity, or innovation in a specific field.
The 1,502 honored students included:
- 10 recipients of the Honorary Student Award for the academic year 2024.
- 155 members of the Student Organization.
- 45 members of the Student Council.
- 160 members of general clubs.
- 107 members of sports clubs.
- 34 members of student groups.
- 71 dormitory committee members from central, affiliated, and faculty dormitories.
- 920 outstanding students from faculties and colleges.
This remarkable event underscored KKU’s dedication to recognizing and nurturing student excellence, ensuring that its graduates are not only academically accomplished but also socially responsible and well-prepared for the future.
