KKU Faculty of Science Leads Educational Revolution in Northeast Thailand: Bringing Advanced Laboratory Experience to Over 350 Students

In a groundbreaking initiative to bridge the educational gap in Thailand’s Northeast, Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Science transformed its state-of-the-art laboratories into dynamic learning spaces for regional secondary school students this February. This innovative program exemplifies KKU’s commitment to social responsibility and educational equality in the region.

Empowering Tomorrow’s Scientists

The two-day intensive workshop series, conducted on February 15-16, 2025, provided over 350 students and teachers from provinces in the Northeast with hands-on experience in advanced scientific techniques typically reserved for university-level education. From DNA analysis to forensic science investigations, participants engaged in real-world laboratory practices that brought textbook concepts to life.

The workshops covered an impressive range of scientific disciplines, including:

Nongrua Wittaya School, Khon Kaen Province

Students from Nongrua Wittaya School participated in science workshops in the following areas:

  • Chemistry: “Acid-Base Titration and Preparation of Standard Base Solutions.”
  • Biology: “DNA Extraction from Plant or Animal Cells and DNA Analysis Using Agarose Gel Electrophoresis.”
A total of 80 students and teachers attended the sessions.

Dong Luang Wittaya School, Mukdahan Province

Students from Dong Luang Wittaya School participated in workshops in the following areas:

  • Biology: “DNA Extraction from Plant or Animal Cells and DNA Analysis Using Agarose Gel Electrophoresis.”
  • Integrated Science: “Introduction to Forensic Science Laboratory” (for upper secondary students).
