KKU Library Collaborates with Over 100 Volunteers to Bring Joy on Children’s Day Through Innovative Learning Activities

On Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the Khon Kaen University Library, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supat Sinawat, Director of the Library, along with administrators, staff, and over 100 youth volunteers, organized the “Children’s Day 2025” event. This marks the fifth consecutive year the library has celebrated National Children’s Day with engaging activities.

This year, the library collaborated with over 120 youth volunteers, or “Learners,” comprising high school students from schools across Khon Kaen province, such as Khon Kaen Wittayayon School and the Demonstration School of Khon Kaen University. Additionally, university students from various faculties of Khon Kaen University and other educational institutions participated. The event provided a platform for these young volunteers to demonstrate civic-mindedness and social responsibility by spreading happiness and promoting learning among children.

Beyond fostering community spirit, the youth volunteers had the opportunity to develop 21st-century skills through hands-on experiences in a “living classroom.” Acting as mentors, they facilitated various educational activities, including:

Metaverse Learning Experience: Children and youth explored the virtual world, gaining exposure to advanced technologies and stimulating their imagination.

Art Activities: Drawing and coloring sessions encouraged creativity in a safe and friendly environment, with educational tools supporting artistic development.

Storytelling: Skilled storytellers captivated children with engaging narratives filled with lessons and inspiration.

Musical Performances: Talented youth showcased their musical abilities, entertaining attendees and inspiring participants.

Cover Dance Performances: Dance sessions built confidence and performance skills in a fun and lively atmosphere.

Board Games: Strategic games enhanced critical thinking, planning, and teamwork skills.

The event drew significant interest from diverse groups of young participants, including students from Mahatai Triangle School, Mahatai Northeastern School, Sri Sangwan School, Khon Kaen School for the Deaf, and other local schools.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supat Sinawat, in his opening remarks, emphasized, “As a learning center for all, the KKU Library recognizes the importance of fostering learning for children and youth. Libraries serve as vital hubs of knowledge, playing a critical role in supporting education and lifelong learning for our community. This Children’s Day event provides a unique opportunity to bridge classroom learning with living classroom experiences through creative activities. These activities aim to build essential skills, such as teamwork, communication, ICT proficiency, and leadership, to better prepare young people for the challenges of work and life today and in the future.”

The event successfully created a vibrant and inclusive space for learning and enjoyment, reinforcing the library’s role as a central hub for community development and youth empowerment.
