Food Technology students, Faculty of Technology, win two awards from FoSTAT Food Innovation Contest 2024

June 14, 2024 – Department of Food Technology, Faculty of Technology, Khon Kaen University, led by Dr. Nattawong Fuangpaiboon, joined the final round of the FoSTAT Food Innovation Contest 2024 under the topic: “Food for Crisis”. The event, Food Innovation Asia Conference 2024, was organized by the Food Science and Technology Association of Thailand (FoSTAT).
From 100 teams of competitors, 15 teams were selected to enter the final round, and 3 of which were the teams from the Department of Food Technology, Faculty of Technology, Khon Kaen University: Mimee Mimee Mimee Team, Ling Thue Khaw Tung Team, and A La Cube Team.
It turned out that Mimee Mimee Mimee Team was awarded the Second Runner-up Prize and the Best Packaging Award from their product: “Phat Thai, delicious and easy to cook with no heat”.


Dr. Nattawong Fuangpaiboon, the team supervisor, said, “I’m happy and proud with the two awards the students received. It proved that the students were able to apply the knowledge from the Food Product Development Course and develop the product according to the set condition, which changes every year. They were able to create the work and Pitching to the fullest capacity and won national awards. We see their determination and potentiality. We will continue using this strategy in the instruction so that students can obtain experiences from the national stage, In addition, the students got to make friends with students from other universities in the food technology circle, and so can build their bigger network. Thanks the lecturers in the department who have helped giving advices to the students in different aspects.”


The students in the winning team, of all 4 years, included: Mr. Sirisak Saelee and Miss Intira Kengkhunthod (4th year), Miss Jaruwan Boonchanamontree (3rd year), Mr. Nattapong Khomchan and Miss Pimpattra Tananontawee (2nd year), and Miss Tanida Chaweewanpakdee (1st year).
Sirisak Saelee, the team representative said, “After the contest that was both intensive and challenging, something that makes us proud the most was the second runner-up award and the best packaging award. The moment we learned about this made us feel excited and happy. We are also proud of the attempts and dedication to develop the product, from planning the recipe, testing, improving, until designing of packaging. The acceptance of the committee and other contesters confirmed our ability and creativity. They are not only the awards for the tiredness, but also a symbol showing that we are on the right path. The happiness from the success is great. Seeing the success from the attempts made us feel good at heart. This feeling will inspire us to step forward with confidence. I’d like to thank the team members and everyone who supported us. That was the important thing. Team work and support from everyone around us enabled us to step across the obstacles and reach this point.”
