Office of Academic Service inform deans and related associate deans of academic services of 2020
May 22, 2019 at Rachawadee Room – Office of Academic Service, Khon Kaen University as the coordinator for academic service management held a meeting to inform administrators of the direction of academic services to the community for the year 2020. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kriengkrai Kitjaroen, Director of Office of Academic Service gave a talk on the said topic followed by another talk on “Planning academic service processes” by Asst. Prof. Dr. Satorn Porntrakoonpipat, Deputy Director of Office of Academic Service in Academic Affairs.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kriengkrai Kitjaroen’s talk on the direction of academic services to the community for the year 2020 can be concluded as follows: Khon Kaen University and Office of Academic Service under the new administrator team has plans for 2020 in 4 categories: 1) Transfer of knowledge and innovations to the community, 2) development of prototype communities – 6 major communities and 6 minor communities, 3) GMS countries, and 4) Royal projects. These are aimed at building occupation and incomes to the communities through Professional Training. Budget will be allocated as follows: 1) 20% for transfer of knowledge and innovations to the community, 2) 60% for development of prototype communities – 6 major communities and 6 minor communities, 3) 10% for GMS countries, and 4) 10% for Royal projects.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Satorn Porntrakoonpipat, Deputy Director of Office of Academic Service explained about budget request that the proposed project should: “1) respond to Government’s policy related to social and quality of life or respond to KKU’s strategic plan and the needs of communities as well as to major missions of each faculty; 2) transfer knowledge and expertise of lecturers in instruction, research and innovation; 3) be related to academic collaboration with countries in the Mekong Sub-region and ASEAN; 4) the personnel in charge should be affiliated to Khon Kaen University and the project does not receive budget from another source; 5) the proposed project must be approved by the faculty committee; 6) the proposing personnel must not have any pending work of report of the fiscal year 2016; 7) the proposer and the team must submit resume that shows expertise in the field; 8) proposed projects can be collaboration with countries in the Mekong Sub-region and ASEAN, using the sites where there are alumni to build relationship with alumni or with institutions that have signed an MOU with KKU; and 9) Royal projects – budget can be allocated as before.
Finally Director and Deputy Director of Office of Academic Service answered questions from the audience. It was noted that 1) The Higher Education (THE) should not be used. 2) Before entering an MOU with some countries there should be active work or achievement first.
