KKU and Department of Fishery sign MOU for driving forward innovations and potentialities of Thai fishery

April 3, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. – Khon Kaen University and the Department of Fishery signed an MOU for academic collaboration in instruction, research, and academic services. Signing for Khon Kaen University was Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University; and for the Department of Fishery was Mr. Chalermchai Suwannarak, Director of the Department. A number of administrators of both organizations attended as witnesses at Sarasin Room, Sirikunakorn Building, Khon Kaen University.

Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University said that Khon Kaen University has a good opportunity to build academic collaboration that will promote instruction, research and academic services with the Department of Fishery. This MOU will last for 4 years as of the signing date. Benefits are expected, in addition, in development of personnel and the fishery sector, which will ultimately strengthen the farmers of the country.

“On behalf of Khon Kaen University, I am grateful to the Department of Fishery for joining with Khon Kaen University. The works that will be carried out under this MOU will benefit the personnel of both organizations. There will be sharing of resources in instruction, research, personnel students, academicians, materials and equipment, and information related to fishery. In addition, the bodies of knowledge that will emerge will be transferred to the farmers; this answers the social dedication objective of Khon Kaen University.”

Mr. Chalermchai Suwannarak, Director of the Department of Fishery added on behalf of a governmental organization under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives. “The Department has conducted studies, surveyed, researched, analyzed, and experimented on fishery in order to support and enhance occupational development related to fishery of the country. The collaboration in academic and research this time will increase bodies of knowledge and provide academic services that will contribute to problem solution in the Northeast, especially in agriculture. In addition, collaboration can, in the future, be extended to other regions of the country. The Department of Fishery is happy to sign this MOU that is principally aimed to develop fishery and related research and academic aspects as well as strengthening personnel of both organizations. It is expected that Thai fishery will reached its highly competitive competency while resources are used under appropriate balances. Research and innovations will lead to wealth among the farmers, and powerful fishery of the country in the future.”
