COLA students visit the community to sharpen their geographical information skill for public service and tourism and cultural heritage management

October 26, 2022 – The College of Local Administration of Khon Kaen University organized a study trip under the course CL 503214 Management of Tourism and Cultural Heritage and the course CL 303105 Geographic Information System for Public Service. The two courses are in the Urban Management and Infrastructure Program. There were 72 students participating in this trip, which was led by Dr. Wei YANG and Dr. Kritsada Prachumrasri, two lecturers of COLA.

The morning session was for the students to learn about the historical tourism spot at Non Muang Archaeological site, Chum Phae District, Khon Kaen. The group had a chance to listen to Khun Hemmanat Jotmeechai, a cultural officer from the 8th Fine Arts Office, Khon Kaen. The students then travelled to other sites including natural spots such as Thap Lao Water Spring and Botanical Garden in Khonsan District, Chaiyaphum. In the afternoon, they were granted permission by the National Parks of Thailand, Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Flora to visit important natural places in Nam Nao National Park, Nam Nao District, Petchaboon.

The study trip was for the students to bring the information gathered from visiting the places to make a report on a model of integrated tourism with the use of applied information system in the management of tourism in order to enhance tourism at the locality in the future.
