September 23, 2022 – The first forum on pulmonary hypertension was held at the multipurpose court of Queen Sirikit Heart Center, Srinagarind Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University. The objective was to provide information about pulmonary hypertension to health professionals and the public, related to the cause, prevention, and care. This condition is considered chronic, and the patient should receive medical treatment and follow-up all through his or her life. It is also known that severe condition can be fatal within a short period.
The forum was moderated by Asst. Prof. Burapa Pussatham, M.D., a medical doctor in the field of cardiovascular diseases of the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University. The specific topic the doctor talked about was “Knowing and Understanding Patients with Pulmonary Hypertension”. At the forum, some patients related their experiences in self-care, while some specialists in the field and a patient care team answered questions and gave more details that enabled the patients to understand the illness. The patients’ caregivers are also able to apply the knowledge obtained to improve their plans for more efficient care.
